Crossrail 2 requests funding from TfL board

The Crossrail 2 team has asked for an additional £14.1m for its current phase of planning.

The agenda for the next meeting of the TfL board shows that it is to consider a request from Michèle Dix, managing director of Crossrail 2, to authorise £14.1m of the planned budget, taking its total for 2015-16 to £16.7m.

The project previously received £2.6m to update safeguarding in response to a request by the DfT.

The Crossrail 2 directorate at TfL was established in February. It is currently taking forward responsibility for safeguarding the route and preparing a joint business case with the DfT for the anticipated Spending Review.

The directorate is also developing the scheme in preparation for a public consultation in the autumn.

During 2014-15, costs of £3.35m were incurred against the budget of £3.43m.
