Finsbury Park station work postponed

The closure of a Finsbury Park Underground station entrance and construction of a new one, due to begin today, has been postponed indefinitely by Transport for London (TfL).

RTM reported on Friday that work was set to begin today on a new Western station entrance, with the existing Wells Terrance entrance closing for the duration of the work.

However TfL has now postponed the work, with no future date set.

The cause of the delay is due to the postponement of work scheduled to go ahead at the same time on a project next to the station.

David Hughes, director for major programme sponsorship at London Underground, said: “Our upgrade of Finsbury Park Tube station is being co-ordinated with a project by City North Ltd which is adjacent to the station. City North Ltd has informed us that they are now not in a position to proceed with their work at this time.

“This temporarily impacts on our planned work at the Wells Terrace station entrance and means that this station entrance will remain open until further notice to minimise disruption to our customers.

“We remain absolutely committed to delivering improvements, including step-free access, at Finsbury Park Underground station.”
