Crossrail

I guess that Crossrail 1 will be named as Elizabeth Line. Just like the London Underground Victoria Line and Jubilee Line.

Fine, but the line will only be used by commuters and the fit with strong bladders. Disgusting that no toilets are being fitted - think of discomfort for children,old, mums to be etc, anyone using off peak or for a night out. As for the disabled, getting on/off at stations - stupid. I see the services is one every 30 minutes to Reading - hardly a quick on/off service for a toilet stop at a station.

Pathetic pandering to royalty. What has Liz done for transport? She rides limos everywhere. Keep it 'Crossrail', it does what it says on the tin, crosses London quickly. Fits in well with Crossrail 2, which will also cross London quickly.

Talk about trying to take over London. Underground lines have names. This is part of the national rail network and therefore all this will do is cause confusion. We have Thameslink and this should remain as Crossrail. Everybody will then know where they are. Another Boris botch.

It's nice, but a bit unexpected. I did expect it to stay as Crossrail, because it will surely be run similarly to London Overground, with a concession awarded to a company (MTR in this case). Since London Overground is just that, and not something like the Suburbs Line (I am fully aware that London Overground operate on more than one route), I thought that Crossrail would just stay as it is because it has built up a pretty strong brand name. I guess reasoning could be that the most frequent service would be underground, and Queen Elizabeth is the longest reining monarch and all that. Ah well, I could get used to the Elizabeth Line, it was just unexpected and a little bit unnecessary.

What else will be named after that woman? Will Thameslink become The Philip Line?.....
