Atkins welcomes new Strategic Rail market director

Atkins has appointed David Brewer as its new director for the strategic rail market.

In his new job at the design, engineering and project management consultancy, Brewer will lead the strategic rail client team in delivering a portfolio of services and projects ranging from strategic advice through to large Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) schemes, as well as utilising new technology to lead the development and delivery of Atkins’ long term market strategy both in the UK and overseas.

Brewer was the network delivery and development director at Highways England and a former board director.

Group managing director of Atkins’ UK Transportation division Philip Hoare said: “David shares my passion for health and safety and continuing to develop our behavioural safety culture both within Atkins and the industry. David brings with him a wealth of experience in leading multiple large complex programmes and will work closely with our client and project delivery teams, building strong client relationships and continuing to build our reputation in the sector.

“David will be a great asset both to our Transportation division and the Strategic Rail market team. I am delighted to welcome him onto the team and look forward to working with him in our quest to shape the future of transportation.”

Atkins work includes a £1m four-year contract, awarded last year, to provide Building Information Modelling (BIM) services to HS2 Ltd.
