Cleaners’ strike continues with web partner
Tube cleaners are continuing their strike action today for Olympics bonus pay, and union RMT has joined web campaigners Labour Start to launch a ‘cyber picket’.
The cleaners, who work for ISS and Initial, began their strike yesterday and will continue with the action until Saturday.
The partnership with Labour Start will see emails in support of their cause be sent to London Mayor Boris Johnson, TFL and the cleaning companies.
RMT general secretary Bob Crow said the joint campaign will “help us apply maximum pressure to the Mayor, TFL and the cleaning companies to end this scandal of poverty pay on London Underground.”
He stated that we “must not forget the London transport cleaners on minimum pay rates doing some of the dirtiest jobs in often appalling conditions with no Olympics recognition and reward whatsoever.”
