£3.75m improvements for Tarka Line
The Tarka Line has seen £3.75m investment, relaying 3.8 miles of track, Network Rail has announced. The work will improve reliability and performance, providing a smoother ride for passengers.
Drainage works have taken place at Colleton Mills, King Nympton and Portsmouth Arms, and track renewal has provided continuous welded rail, with other essential maintenance and repair work on structures such as bridges and viaducts.
Tim Maddocks, Network Rail’s customer services manager for the west country, said: “Our aim is to improve performance, reduce maintenance costs and make the Tarka Line a more reliable, safer and smoother ride for passengers.”
Work on the Exeter to Barnstaple line began last year.
