Ep.13 Innovation is about people, David Rowe

David Rowe, Head of Strategy at Network Rail in the newly established Technical Authority, joins host Ailsa Cowen for episode 13 of Rail Technology Magazine’s podcast, Track Talk, to talk all things innovation in the rail industry.

David divulges into how the rail industry is built on new technology and the importance of giving voice and choice to passengers and freight users.

He also spoke avidly about Network Rail’s Research and Development Portfolio, which is approaching 200 projects.

He also highlighted the importance of creating opportunities, encouraging and supporting young people to create a more diverse workforce.

The unavoidable Covid-19 outbreak was also discussed, with David stating that the rail world is in its element when responding to a crisis.

He also specified that all the challenges before Covid-19 have not gone away but it’s important when it comes to recovery that we enjoy the journey into a slightly different world.
