Free parking for NHS and care workers at two major stations
Manchester Piccadilly and Liverpool Lime Street stations have made their parking free of charge for NHS and care workers during the coronavirus crisis.
Network Rail has relinquished parking charges to display their support and appreciation for their efforts during this challenging time.
The announcement follows the Department for Transport and train operators asking for all passengers to only travel if their journey is necessary.
Countless healthcare professionals use the rail network to travel to and from work.
The public have been reminded that only essential travel is recommend during the coronavirus pandemic, a reduced timetable is operating on the rail network.
Head of performance and customer relationship at Network Rail, Karen Hornby, said: “The NHS are going above and beyond to save lives during this crisis so it’s important that we support them as much as we can.
“If you need to park at the station, just have your NHS or care work ID to hand and you’re welcome to park for free.”
